Robin Haase continued his quest to claim victory on home soil, advancing to the Topshelf Open semi-finals with a 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3) win over Ivo Karlovic on Friday.

Wild card Haase, who is The Netherlands' top player at No. 83 in the Emirates ATP Rankings, is appearing in his first 's-Hertogenbosch semi-final in eight attempts. He is the first Dutchman to advance as far since Raemon Sluiter in 2009 and will bid to become the first home grown champion since Sjeng Schalken clinched consecutive crowns in 2002-03.

Haase overcame 24 aces from the big-serving Croat, firing 10 of his own. He survived all eight break points faced, while converting on his lone chance, eventually sealing the win in two hours and 16 minutes. Looking to reach his fifth ATP World Tour singles final since 2011, and first on grass, Haase will square off against qualifier Nicolas Mahut in Saturday's semis. It will be their first meeting.

Mahut dispatched sixth seed Adrian Mannarino 6-1, 6-3 in 65 minutes, claiming a dominant 70 per cent of total service points, including 24/30 on his first serve. The Frenchman won the title here as a qualifier in 2013 and is looking to become the sixth qualifier to reach an ATP World Tour final this year.
